SAR System Overview for Coxswains

At the coxswain level the system carries a few more responsibilities then crew. Coxswains are responsible for filling out Training and Incident/Mission reporting forms in addition to using the system for reporting like crew.

After returning form a training exercise or SAR mission the coxswain should complete the appropriate form (which, if their access is correctly configured will be available to them both from the SAR navigation menu as well as the Administration Tools at the top of every page in the SMS.

Help filling out each of the forms is available from the associated topics (see below).

Once complete the form needs to be submitted (by checking off a box at the bottom of the form) and finally it must be authorized by the coxswain. This is a digital equivalent to signing a paper form and will be recorded in the form´s history (an audit trail)

The report then proceeds through a pre-defined workflow for others in the organization to add authorizations. The form may be rejected, in which case the coxswain will receive an email indicating the reason and must correct the problem and re-submit the form.
