Vice President (Central) Job Posting

Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, (Central & Arctic) Inc. (CCGA C&A) is a not-for-profit organization that provides marine search and rescue services (SAR) in Ontario, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Nunavik, QC.

CCGA C&A is looking for an individual to take on the role of Vice President for our Central areas in Ontario and Manitoba. The position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for overseeing corporate operations, administration, training programs, and membership services.

The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate leadership. Marine experience is desirable and preferably in a search and rescue role.

Vice President (VP) - Job Description
Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Central & Arctic (CCGA C&A) Full-Time, Salaried | Travel Required

1. Position Purpose

The Vice President (VP) provides strategic and operational leadership across the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Central & Arctic). This role elevates the functions overseeing corporate operations, administration, financial processes, training programs, SMS functions, membership services, and support for national and regional committees.
The VP ensures that the organization operates efficiently, meets regulatory and program requirements, and represents CCGA C&A professionally in all engagements.

2. Reporting Structure

-  Reports directly to the CEO
-  Supervises staff, administration functions, and other assigned personnel.
-  Works closely with CCG regional representative, national committees, and regional partners as per the direction of the CEO.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Executive Leadership & Corporate Operations
-  Oversee office systems, procedures, correspondence management, filing systems, and office efficiencies.
-  Develop and implement organizational processes, standards, and continuous improvements.
-  Supervise and mentor staff; conduct performance reviews and disciplinary processes as needed.



B. Finance & Business Planning
-  Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and business plans with CEO.
-  Manage day-to-day financial operations:
o Payables
o Activity requests
o Expense claim
o Member reimbursements
 
-  Provide required financial reports to CEO.
-  Support annual audits and liaise with auditors as requested by the                                               CEO.

C. Membership, Training & Administrative Oversight
-  Oversee a complete, updated database of members, vessels, equipment, training records, and certifications.
- Oversee the Communication of policies, procedures, and updates to membership and
Board under the CEOs direction.

D. Training Administration Training Responsibilities:
-  Oversee training courses.
-  Support advanced SMS issues within the office.
-  Sit on regional and national committees as requested by the CEO.
-  Oversee publishing of training manuals.
-  Oversee tasking verifications.

E. Communications, PR & Stakeholder Relations
-  Promote the philosophy and goals of the CCGA through networking, correspondence, outreach, and public announcements as requested by the CEO.

F. Projects, Special Assignments & Fundraising
-  Act as Project Lead for:
o Special organizational projects
o Complete additional projects or services as required.

G. Signing Authorities & Compliance
-  Serve as a signing authority as delegated by the CEO.
-  Ensure compliance with CCGA policies, CCG requirements, regulatory frameworks, and financial controls.
-  Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
 
4. Required Skills & Qualifications

-  Supply management, budgeting, expense tracking
-  Staff supervision & delegation
-  Inventory control & reporting
-  Strong communication skills
-  Ability to manage multiple portfolios simultaneously
