District 3 Meeting and SMS Training

On January 10, 2009 District 3 members gathered at the Holiday Inn in Point Edward, Ontario to recap the 2008 boating season and discuss new business for the upcoming year. Many topics including upcoming training events and the recent changes with Boating Safety were discussed. Also on the agenda was the discussion on whom to nominate for District Director at the AGM in February, a position currently held by Les Reading who recently announced that he would be stepping down after many years of hard work in the position. It was strongly voiced by all members present that Les has done a fine job and that the new Director will have his work cut out for him to match Les record.

On Saturday January 24, 2009, the Unit Leaders and Deputy Unit Leaders of Distri ct 3 gathered at the Holiday Inn in Point Edward, Ontario to receive instruction on the SAR Management System or SMS. Instructed by Juanita Armstrong of the CCGA office, D3 members were taught how to fill out forms ranging from SAR Mission Forms to personal Expense Forms. Unit Leaders present will now take their knowledge of the system back to their units to train their crews how to use the system.
