Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, (Central & Arctic) Inc. (CCGA C&A) is a not-for-profit organization that provides marine search and rescue services (SAR) in Ontario, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Nunavik, QC.
CCGA C&A is looking for an individual to take on the role of Manager, Training and Development for our Central Region in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan. The position will report directly to the Vice President Central and will be responsible for assessing the ongoing training and development needs of the organization and based on those needs, developing an organizational training strategy and an operational plan utilizing a variety of delivery mediums to respond to those needs.
The ideal candidate will have Managerial experience or completed comparable training or equivalent supplemented by five years of leadership experience in an adult learning environment. Marine experience is desirable and preferably in a search and rescue role.

Summary
This position oversees the development and delivery of marine-related training programs for search and rescue volunteers, ensuring they meet member needs and regulatory standards. The role includes managing instructors, monitoring program effectiveness, and handling all aspects of training administration. It also requires staying current with Transport Canada certifications and serving as a resource and facilitator / instructor when needed.

(CCGA C&A) is a not-for-profit organization that delivers volunteer-based marine search and rescue (SAR) services across Ontario, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Nunavik. CCGA C&A works in partnership with the Canadian Coast Guard to enhance marine safety and emergency response in some of Canada?s most challenging environments.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage instructors delivering marine-related training.
Collaborate with CCGA C&A staff and unit leaders to identify member training needs and delivery methods.
Leverage unit resources to support program development and implementation.
Create and use assessments to confirm knowledge transfer and understanding.
Monitor and evaluate training programs and course effectiveness, adjusting methods as needed.
Oversee program administration, including registration, materials, exams, records, and reporting.
Stay current with Transport Canada certifications and program updates to ensure compliance.
Oversee all aspects of training administration, including course registration, materials, examinations, records management, and reporting.
Ensure training programs remain compliant with Transport Canada certifications and regulatory requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, certification standards, and program updates.
Act as a resource and facilitator/instructor as operational needs require.
Education, Training, Skills and Experience
Experience in a supervisory or management environment, ideally in an adult education or training setting
Marine background preferred, especially in search and rescue operations.
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Solid understanding of teaching methods, learning strategies, and instructional material development.
Basic financial skills, including budgeting and expense management. OR

Demonstrated managerial experience, or completion of comparable management training, supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in an adult learning environment.
Proven experience in training program development, delivery, and evaluation.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
