Specifies the type of incident. Try to choose the best possible from the list. Avoid the use of ´other´ unless absolutly no other type relates to the incident at hand.

Adrift (No POB)
This would be a vessel that has broken away from her moorings/anchor(s) and is floating free without anyone on board

Aircraft
Includes all incidents involving airplane, helicopter, hydroplane, etc. (out of fuel, crash, etc)

Capsized
Vessel overturned caused by improper loading, water coming in, and/or sudden squall of wind

Collision with ship
Contact between two vessels/crafts

Collision with object
Collision with a wharf, pier, breakwater, deadhead, buoy or such similar objects

Disabled
A situation wherein a vessel with people on board is not under command due to human or climatic factors or mechanical breakdowns (sailboards, sailboats in high winds, nets caught in propellers,
strong currents)

Disoriented
Vessel´s operator unable to fix/establish his/her position (lost in daytime, nighttime or in fog)

Diving
Any incident including diving activity (SCUBA diving/commercial diving)

Drowned
Body found submerged in the water and the cause was not related to a recent marine incident

False Alarm
Any incident that resulted in a search/investigation by a SAR Unit and turned out to be a false alarm (distress flare, overdue, lost radio contact, hoax, presumed incident)

Foundered
Sinking of a vessel/craft due to water intake:(i.e. weather, broken fitting, pipe, etc) -- Note: Sinking due to fire, collision or overturning must be entered according to those specific incident types

Grounded
Vessel that struck bottom, and all non-voluntary grounding (Voluntary grounding or beaching to save a vessel is not included)

Man Overboard
Persons in the water as a result of falling over the ship´ or vessel´s side. (excludes divers and swimmers)

Mechanical breakdown
A situation wherein a vessel with people on board, is not under command due to mechanical breakdown (i.e. dead engine, steering disabled, etc.)

Medical
Evacuation of sick/ injured persons, transportation of physician and/or medical personnel and/or human organs

On Fire
Fire on board (explosions included)

Persons on the Ice
An incident involving persons adrift on ice, fishermen, snowmobiles and cars through the ice

Suicide Attempt
Any voluntary attempt at self-inflicting death

Swimmer
The person requiring assistance was swimming prior to becoming in danger

Taking on Water
The vessels watertight integrity is lost through some malfunction, leak rupture, etc., but does not founder

Other
Any other incident not described above. (i.e. car in the water) Add a short description when using other as Incident Type.
