To preserve the historical records of the system personnel are not deleted from the system when they are no longer an active member of the organization. Instead they are marked inactive - this removes them from the selection lists and the majority of reports, but retains their records.

Members that leave and then return can just be marked active again.

This drop-down allows the members active status to be toggled between active and inactive. Only members with Manage Unit security access and/or admins can alter this setting.
